According to her, growing up, her family had been struck by many illnesses that had been emotionally challenging. As a result of dealing with these stressful times, she became inspired and motivated by the efforts of the nursing staff who provided great care, compassion & persistency.
She was able to witness and observe the nursing staff and their level of communication & interaction with other patients. She knew then, at an early age of 12, that she wanted to be one of them.
“We as nurses have such profound power when we lend an ear, a hand, or even an act of kindness on someone’s worst day, moment and time. For me, making a difference in someone’s life gives life meaning. Just think about whose lives we touch daily and the lives that touch us”, says Amy.
“Detecting your passion should never be an option. You always have a choice so if you want to leave a legacy and live a fulfilling life, choose to do what makes you happy and fills your heart”, she added.
